CareerNow 

CareerNow is a hands-on career readiness and technical education program designed to prepare students for the workforce, apprenticeships, and post-secondary pathways. Students gain practical skills through project-based learning in construction trades, graphic design, laser engraving, financial literacy, Wood Tech 101 & 102 and career readiness, while working in a real-world professional environment.

The Carpentry Program at SBAC provides participants with the foundational skills and knowledge needed to pursue further education or career opportunities in carpentry and woodworking.

Laser Engraving

This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of laser engraving. Students will learn about essential safety procedures, the operation of laser engraving machines, the use of design software, and the basics of project design providing them the ability to independently design, create, and complete their own laser engraving projects.

This course provides comprehensive training in the fundamental techniques of plastering, including surface preparation, mixing plaster, applying plaster, and basic decorative finishes. Students will gain practical hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge to pursue a career in plastering or undertake DIY projects confidently.

The Historic Plaster Mold Course at SBAC will equip participants with specialized skills and knowledge necessary to preserve, replicate, and create historic plasterwork, enhancing their capability in this specialized field.

Field Trips

This one-hour field trip to the Salem Building Arts Center (SBAC) offers students an engaging and hands-on introduction to various creative arts and crafts.  The visit is divided into short, interactive sessions focused on woodworking, laser engraving, mosaic art, and plaster casting using molds. Students will get a glimpse of the craftsmanship and creativity involved in these traditional and modern art forms.
